It was with great sadness and shock that we announce the untimely loss of Bryan Fox, who passed away on Sunday Nov 16th.
This gentle giant had been battling cancer for the past three years but was doing extremely well in daily life at his home. In anticipation of watching the 112th Grey Cup later that afternoon, he laid down to recharge his batteries and peacefully drifted off to heaven with a smile on his face. As you can imagine he himself had been a great athlete in his day with baseball and football as his sports.
If you knew this born and bread Transcona native, stories would come to mind just by saying these words: Bubba, Foresight, Smitty’s, Meat draw, Whisky Sours, Bombers, Boston/49’rs, Jude, Jill, Judy.
He was predeceased by his father Ken, his older sister Debbie and his mother Greta. As a family of eight, with his five other siblings, the yale house never lacked activity. Bryan loved to cater to those around him and often found at the center of events as the cook or bartender. Bryan will be remembered for his extraordinary talent in making people laugh. He was a happy go lucky character, kind in nature, always with a warm smile, who enjoyed being out in the sun. He loved going to the beach -Hillside, Gimli, Westhawk- in the summers and Mexico in the winters, when possible. He could always be found singing and dancing at the drop of a hat or just because the sun was out and it was a good day to be alive.
With a lifetime career as a private detective and security guard that escalated into senior site and management roles. You won’t be surprised to learn his other passion, besides his two children Jordyn and Bryant Fox, was politics. If you needed to know what was going on in the world, or even with your own MLA, he could talk your ear off.
We will be having a private ceremony for him at a later date. However, if you want to commemorate this Irishman in your own way, with a wee drink in your hand, you can toast him by saying:
May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always in your back
May the sunshine warm upon your face
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again
…and envision him nodding and winking right back at’ cha as his final good-bye.
**We wanted to give a shout out to all the Palliative care doctors over the years, and especially Terry from home care, in which he saw daily and felt like she was family.
