It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Edith (Edie) Collinson at her home on Saturday May 30, 2026 at the age of 80.
She was predeceased by her husband Bruce; her parents Bessie and John Arthur (Art) McNaughton and her two sisters Dorothy Vincent and Dianne Holmstrom.
Edie will be lovingly remembered by her son Greg (Monique); granddaughters Brianne (Josh) and Kristen; grandson Eric (Karla), and three great-grandchildren Bennett, Ryleigh, and Emery. She will also be remembered by her sister Elaine (Doug); brother Jack (Collete), and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Edie lived a life in service to others. Edie held many people-centered jobs throughout her life, running children’s group homes in British Columbia and the Yukon in her earlier adult years, and working as an administrative assistant for Winnipeg School Division until she retired in 2005. After retirement, Edie supported her mother through dementia and her sister through her battle with cancer, helped run the social club in her apartment building, and volunteered to prepare meals for unhoused people in the community. Her passion for being an active community member and lifting up the people around her is evident through all these experiences.
A private interment for family will be held June 24, 2026 at 11:00am Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB. A come-and-go celebration of life lunch will follow at 12:00-2:00pm in the Social Club room at 1080 Henderson Highway as a time to share memories of Edie’s time with us.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edie's name to Bleak House Senior Centre, where Edie often visited to play cards or bingo, or the Good Neighbours Active Living Centre, where Edie volunteered her time to ensure seniors had access to the supports and socialization opportunities they needed in the community.
