Elizabeth Stewart, 82, of Winnipeg, MB, Canada, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024, surrounded by her family and loved ones at Concordia Hospital. Elizabeth grew up in Winnipeg, spending every summer at Grand Beach, where she met the love of her life, Jack. They married on July 11, 1964, and shared 50 amazing years until his passing in 2014.
After their wedding, they bought a cottage at Grand Beach and formed lasting friendships within the community. Elizabeth and Jack enjoyed traveling, ticking destinations like Nassau, Texas, Mexico, Vegas, Hawaii, and an Alaskan cruise off their bucket list for their 50th anniversary. After Jack passed, Elizabeth fulfilled her dream of touring England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales by bus.
Elizabeth worked at the Royal Bank and held various other jobs over the years, always ensuring she was home for her children at lunchtime and after school. She loved watching the Blue Bombers and Winnipeg Jets with her husband and friends, the Winnipeg Goldeyes with her daughter, and going to the casino with her son. She had a passion for playing baseball, basketball, volleyball, figure skating, and was even a majorette. She was also honored as Queen of the Independent Order of Foresters in 1962.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Jack; her parents, Bill and Mabel; and her brother, George. She is survived by her daughter, Kerri-Lynn; son, Daniel; as well as countless cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends, many of whom became chosen family.
Elizabeth requested a celebration of life be held in her honor rather than traditional funeral services. We invite all of Elizabeth's loved ones to join us in celebrating her beautiful life at the Transcona Legion, located at 117 Regent Avenue East, on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Elizabeth will be dearly missed, always remembered, and loved forever.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elizabeth’s name to a charity of one's choice.
