It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Gerri Rannie on December 15th, 2024, at the age of 71. Born in Brandon, Manitoba, on June 20, 1953, Gerri moved to Winnipeg in 2000, where she built a life filled with adventure, laughter, and lasting relationships.
Gerri is survived by her devoted husband, Rob; her children and stepchildren, Jackie (Julian), Jeff (Kerri), Jen (Joe), and Angie (Sean); and her cherished grandchildren, Brenden, Noah, Zane, Nova, Katie, Tyler, Bennett and her dog Maddie.
Predeceased by her parents, Len and Millie Fisher, Gerri will be remembered for her intelligence, wit, and her many passions.
A natural with numbers, Gerri worked for many years as an educational assistant and math tutor in Brandon, with her final position at Nelson McIntyre Collegiate in Winnipeg until her retirement in 2013. She also had a lifelong love of fishing, proudly catching a prized Master Angler. While she may have had mixed feelings about golf, the friendships she made at Larters and Palm Springs Golf Courses were a significant source of joy. Gerri also treasured the friendships and memories she and Rob created in the Country Villas in Birds Hill.
Wintering in Palm Springs was a special time for Gerri and Rob, where they enjoyed golf, evenings in the hot tub, and desert walks. Gerri also found great joy in walking the dog at the quarry in Birds Hill, a place where her father, Len, had swam as a child. Many fond memories were also made with her family at Clear Lake, along with countless fishing and boating adventures with Rob.
In keeping with Gerri’s wishes, Cremation has taken place and there will be no formal funeral service. A private celebration of life will be held for her immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerri’s memory may be made to Siloam Mission, where she once volunteered, or the St Boniface Hospital Foundation. Gerri’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at St B as well as the community palliative care staff who provided Gerri compassionate care and support during her final weeks.
