Glen Dodd Obituary

Glen William Dodd, January 26, 1950 - April 17, 2024.

Glen was born in Stonewall to Ernest and Isabella Dodd, the second of six children, and was raised in Stonewall, North Winnipeg, and later Transcona.

In 1972, Glen married Darlene Madarash, and together they raised two children, Alicia and Matthew. Alicia and Matthew were Glen’s pride and the greatest treasures in his life. Glen began his career in Vancouver with CIL Paints. With a young baby, he and Darlene moved back to Winnipeg to be closer to family. Glen began working in life insurance with Metropolitan Life and North American Life which took his family to Regina, Saskatoon, and back to Winnipeg. Glen then found his niche in the financial planning business. He inherited a strong work ethic from his parents, and was recognized in the financial planning community for his keen intellect, ability to connect with his clients, creativity, and the growth of his business. His work took him back to Vancouver where he built his own successful wealth management firms, Dodd Financial Group and Dream Harbour Wealth Advisors. Aside from family and work, Glen loved to travel the world, and to play golf, especially with his best friend Derek Nelson.

Preceded in death by his parents, Ernie and Isabella, older sister Margaret Joan, and best friend Derek Nelson. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Alicia (Emad) and Matthew (Pam) and their mother Darlene, grandsons Adam, Andrew and Aleksander, sister Margaret Joan’s family, sisters Lorainne, Shirley, Laura Diane (Dave), brother Ian (Wendy) and their families. Remembered also by dear friends Nels and Karen Nelson.

A Celebration of Glen’s life will take place at Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Avenue West, on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 1 PM, officiated by Minister Rob Reed.
