It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Orville Cartman on November 20, 2025, in Winnipeg. Jack Passed after a lengthy battle with cancer, with his family lovingly by his side.
Born on October 12, 1959, in Swan River, Manitoba, Jack’s life was shaped by curiosity, a strong work ethic, and a wholehearted love for the people around him.
Jack is survived by his devoted wife, Loraine, his steadfast companion and loving support; his daughter Jennifer (Chad) who was the joy of his life. He is also survived by his siblings, Bruce Cartman (Brenda) and Kim Cartman Marion (Jim); his brother-in-law, Dennis Kachur (Cheryl); and his siter-in-law, Gloria (Chris). He was a cherished uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ruth and Frank Cartman; his infant sons, Peter and Paul; his grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
Jack lived in many places throughout his life, each leaving its own special meaning and memories. He began working as a teenager and went on to hold several jobs. His longest and most dedicated service was with CNR, where he took great pride in his work and formed lasting friendships. Later, he enjoyed the challenge and hand-on satisfaction of working as an appliance repair technician.
In his leisure time, Jack enjoyed reading, computer games, and tending to his garden. But above all, he truly loved fishing. Time on the water, casting his reel and embracing the peace and freedom of the wide-open lake was where Jack felt most at home.
Jack also had an incredible gift for humor. He loved to make people laugh and was well known for his jokes and storytelling. His lively tales and one-liners brought joy to everyone around him.
He will be remembered for his kindness, resilience, humor, and the steady strength with which he faced life’s challenges. His presence, his stories, and his lively spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
As per Jack’s wishes, no formal service will be held. A private family gathering to celebrate his life will take place at a later date.
MISS ME BUT LET ME GO
Written by Christina Georgina Rossetti
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom-filled room,
Why cry for a soul set free!
Miss me a little – but not for long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me, but let me go.
For this journey that we all must take
And each must go alone;
It’s all a part of the master’s plan
A step on the road to home
When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrows in doing good Deeds.
Miss me, but let me go.
Ca caw, Ca caw until we meet again!
