It is with great sadness and heartfelt pain that the family announces the passing of John Andri Deschamps of Sowden Lake (Ignace), ON on Sunday June 1, 2025 at Winnipeg Health Science Centre after a short and courageous battle with ascending cholangitis. He was 77.
Predeceased by his parents David and Noella Deschamps, his son, David, his brothers, Fernand (Patricia) and Edgar (Terry) and father and mother-in-law Harry and Ella Denomme, brother-in-law John Dankoski (Gail).
Survived by his beloved wife and best friend of over 55 years, Darlene and his son, Patrick (Zelda Gayle) and grandchildren, Olivia, Victoria and Brady (Quincee) which he cherished greatly. Also survived by his brothers Cyril (Dianne) of Azilda and Rheo (Cathy) of Sudbury and his sisters Yvette (Don) Nault of Windsor, Pauline (Leo) Larocque of Val Therese and Jeanne (Yves) Rivest of Field, ON. Survived by his sister-in-laws, Pat of Evart, MI and Terry and Gail of Windsor, ON and brother-in-law, Jim (Val) of Harrow, ON. Fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, friends, fishing and hunting buddies.
John was a letter carrier with Canada Post for 20 years and worked for Ignace Outposts for 13 years as a camp attendant.
Cremation has taken place. No funeral service requested. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice or a tree planted in his memory.
Special thank you to Dr. Joanne Perry and to all of the doctors, nurses and staff of Winnipeg Health Science Centre. Their caring attitude was of great comfort.
