John Koethler

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of John Koethler of Winnipeg, Manitoba on March. 29th, 2025 at the age of 73 years.  

John was born February 26, 1952, in Chihuahua, Mexico. He was the third of six children born to Peter and Katharina Koethler. John immigrated with his family to Manitoba later that same year.  John grew up and attended school in Carman and moved to Winnipeg after graduating- where he lived, worked and retired.  John enjoyed being with his grandchildren, visiting family and friends, fishing, helping at the family farm, and he was an avid Winnipeg Jets and Winnipeg Blue Bombers fan.

Those left to mourn John’s passing are his wife of 40 years- Patricia; his daughter Carol (John); and stepdaughter Hettie. His grandchildren Austin (Sabrina), Christian (Jenna), Kaitlyn, Brendan, Danae, and Colby (Alex). As well as his father Peter Koethler; sisters- Mary (Ken), Margaret (Ben), Tina (Stan); and brothers- Peter (Donna), and Henry (Sue). John also has many nieces and nephews who will mourn his passing.

John was predeceased by his mother, Katharina Koethler.

The family would like to thank the staff of unit 4 and 6 on the fifth floor of Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and compassion during his final days.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday April 5th, 2025, at 11:00am, in Crosspoint Community Church located at 554 Marsden Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
