With much sadness we announce the passing of Katherine Lynn Kendall, peacefully with family by her side, on December 5, 2025.
Kathy leaves us to reunite with her waiting husband of 47 years, Gord. She will be missed by children Tim (Jessie), Trevor (Crystal), and Julie Cornwell (Patrick), as well as grandsons, Nate, Drew, and James, Father Peter Bohonos, siblings Joan (Reg), Donna (Laurry), and Peter (Sherry), sisters-in-law Peg and Sylvia, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Kathy was predeceased by her mother Pat Bohonos, and in-laws Howard and Katherine Kendall.
Kathy was born on June 15, 1955. She met Gord at Red River College where she trained as a bookkeeper. They started dating just before she graduated and married in 1977. When the children came along, she raised them in their Transcona home. She was creative with her hand-sewn Halloween costumes and pajamas, and elaborate birthday cakes. As the kids became school-aged, Kathy volunteered in their schools, eventually leading to her long career as an Educational Assistant. She worked in several schools in the River East Transcona school division, ending with many years at Kildonan East Collegiate. There, working in their Life Skills program well into her sixties, she made many individual connections with students which she treasured.
Per her wishes, no funeral service is planned. The family will celebrate her life at a later date.
Donations in Kathy's memory can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or Palliative Care Manitoba. We are grateful for the care she received from the staff at Palliative Care Manitoba and St. Boniface Hospital.
