Kenneth Eyjolfson Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Kenneth Wayne "Kenny" Eyjolfson on May 27, 2026, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 82.

Kenny was born on January 25, 1944, in Regina, Saskatchewan. He moved to Riverton, Manitoba as a young child, before eventually making his home in Winnipeg, where he built his life and career.

Known for his introverted but willful personality, Kenny touched the lives of many with actions more than words. He was a quiet observer who showed his care and devotion through his remarkable ability to fix absolutely anything. Whether it was a complex mechanical puzzle or a household project, Kenny's hands were rarely still, and his problem-solving skills were unmatched.

Forever the outdoorsman, Kenny felt most at home in nature. He loved the tranquility and focus of fishing, hunting, and foraging, finding peace and joy in the great outdoors. He was also fiercely passionate about his Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bombers, was always up for a good game of cribbage, and always looked forward to meeting up with his friends for morning coffee.

Above all, Ken adored his grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. Watching Jessica’s ringette games was always a top priority for him, and he rarely missed a chance to cheer her on. Whenever he got to visit with Kase, the two of them would spend hours out on the water fishing, bonding over their shared love for the outdoors, and create lasting memories.

Kenny spent his career working as a mechanic, a true master of his trade who continued to work up until the very time of his passing. He was widely revered for his sharpness and ability, especially at his age. He left an undeniable mark on his workplace, where his boss was always quick to note that Kenny was, without a doubt, the "best mechanic I ever had."

Kenny is survived by his loving girlfriend, Diane; his children, Kent (Christine) and Inga (Kris); and his cherished grandchildren, Jessica and Kase. He is also survived by his sister, Gloria, and his brothers, Glenn and Lyle (Ann). He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Katherine and Herbert, and his sister, Patricia.

Kenny will be laid to rest at 11:00am on Saturday June 27, 2026 at the Riverton Community Cemetery. Following the ceremony, family and friends can gather to celebrate Kenny's life at the Riverton Curling Club on the second floor, 175 Reggie Leach Dr in Riverton, MB.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Manitoba Wildlife Federation to fund youth fishing programs, honoring Ken's passion for the outdoors and his dedication to the next generation.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the paramedics and the medical staff at St. Boniface Hospital for all they did for Ken to keep him comfortable, and for showing such profound care and compassion.
