Linda Caroline Platt Passed away surrounded by her family on March 20th, 2026, at the Health Science Centre, in Winnipeg MB.
Linda was born in Sudbury Ontario on January 18,1942. Her mother Martha Caroline Bruhn was returning from Nova Scotia where Linda’s father, Raymond Joseph Smith had completed his army training and departed for the war overseas.
Linda worked as a secretary in Saskatchewan, Ontario, Alberta and finally in Manitoba where she made her home. Linda met and married an Englishman, John Allen Platt in 1970. They lived in Winnipeg, Niverville and eventually in the countryside near Lorette. They shared a passion for all creatures but particularly for cats, large (at the zoo) and small (at home). Shortly after John’s passing in 2016, Linda moved back to Winnipeg.
She will be greatly missed by her brother Ralph (Nuala), her sister Valerie (Peter), her dear friends Ellen and Lou Gaudry, her many cousins in Saskatchewan and Ontario and residents and staff (especially Darlene, Traci and Lalaine) at Oakview Place in Winnipeg.
Linda’s feisty spirit, her ability to tell amusing tales and spicy jokes will be well remembered. Many thanks to the generous and caring staff at Oakview and her doctors and nurses at the Health Science Centre.
