Maria Luisa Gasenzer, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on August 28, 1945, in the Dominican Republic, Luisa built a life filled with love, kindness, and quite strength.
Luisa is survived by her children, Christopher Stephen Gasenzer (Kristina), and Cristine Milagros Gasenzer (Adam); her cherished grandchildren, Keenan and Callie, and her fur grandchild Zelda; and her siblings, Juana (Jeff), Ramona Altagracia, Rafael Amadeo, and Jose Ramon. She was predeceased by her parents, Inocencia and Eduardo, as well as her brothers Jose Ruben and Cesar.
Luisa enjoyed the simple joys of life- spending time with loved ones, reading, crocheting, going for walks, and sharing the company of others. She had a deep love for animals and a special fondness for her Monday night bingo at the social gatherings in her apartment building. Above all, she treasured time with her family, friends, especially her grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and happiness.
Those who knew Luisa will remember her as a truly selfless and loving soul-beautiful inside and out. She always put other first, offering care, warmth, and compassion without ever seeking attention for herself. Her presence touched countless lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, aides, doctors, and staff at St. Boniface Hospital and Grace Hospice for their dedicated care and support.
A celebration of Luisa’s life and her burial will be held at a later date.
