Maureen Elizabeth (Buxton) Duncan

Maureen Elizabeth Duncan (née Buxton) passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the age of 74.

Maureen is lovingly remembered by her son, Geoff; her brother, Jim (Debbie); and her brother-in-law, Angus. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews Andrea, Michael and Tofino, Kory, Becky, Rowen and Harlyn, Jamie and Randi, Stephanie, Mike and Bexley, as well as her close cousin Greg. She will also be missed by her stepchildren, Kelly (Denni) and Kristin (Evan); her step-grandchildren, Madison, Keegan, Mackenzie, and Owen; many extended family members, including aunts, uncles, and cousins; and close friends Kim, Janet, Carol, Rick, and Wendy.

She was predeceased by her partner, Harry Fehr; her parents, Jim and Frances Buxton; and her sister, Janice Matheson.

Maureen was born at St. Boniface Hospital on January 5, 1952. She was raised in South Transcona and spent her entire life living in Transcona. Over the years, she worked for several companies before retiring as church secretary at St. George’s Anglican Church in Transcona, the church where she grew up.

Maureen enjoyed puttering around the house and in the garden. She was involved with assorted activities with the Transcona Legion especially darts on Wednesday nights. One of her happiest places was at the family cottage at Brereton Lake.

The family extends sincere thanks to the Cancer Care team, the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, and the family members, friends, and neighbours who offered support over the past few months.

In keeping with Maureen’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba.
