Michael Crosby Obituary

Michael Wayne Crosby

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Michael Wayne Crosby, who passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, at St. Boniface Hospital, after a long and courageous five-year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Mike was surrounded by love and comfort from his family and the amazing doctors and nurses who ensured his passing was peaceful.

Mike was born by the ocean in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, on February 2, 1967. He was very proud that his roots were in the beautiful land of Nova Scotia and that his father was a lighthouse keeper.

Mike was a deeply loved and cherished husband of Kathleen (nee Ingaldson), with whom he shared 40 wonderful years of marriage. They met in 1984 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and built an amazing life together filled with true love, laughter, and shared adventures.

Mike was a devoted and loving father to Brittani Darleen and Jordan Michael W. (Abbie), and a proud grandfather to his cherished grandson, Nash Michael Crosby. He will be forever remembered by his stepmother, Lolita Crosby (nee Coldwell), and his siblings, Glenn (Skip) (Judy deceased), Ruth Johnson (Bud), Robert, Frank (Nicole), Susan Cochrane (Cameron), Jim (Terra), Joe (Sarah) and many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and a multitude of friends. He was predeceased by his parents, William (Bill) Crosby, the lighthouse  keeper of Horton Bluff Light, Nova Scotia, and Glenna Marguerite.

At just 17, Mike left Nova Scotia to join the Katimavik program, volunteering on Ontario with the Ministry of Natural Resources and later in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he served as a stretcher bearer during the pope's visit. His commitment to service and his kind spirit were evident from a young age.

Mike had a heart of gold, unshakeable faith and was always lending a hand to help someone in need, whether it be to push a car stuck in the snow or make sandwiches and hand them out to the homeless. He loved animals and would distribute food in the winter for the deer, rabbits and other wildlife. Mike supported the Manitoba Wildlife Association among many other charities such as War Amps and World Vision. Mike had an amazing selfless spirit, his friends and family could always rely on.

Mike dedicated 25 years to MacDon Industries, where he was known for his loyalty, jovial nature, and deep sense of camaraderie. He was highly honored and nominated representative for the companies association and took great pride in his work and colleagues. Outside of work, Mike's creativity and craftsmanship shone through in his woodworking projects, especially the restoration of his 100-year-old garage and the amazing unique design of the barn wood door. He found joy in cycling with his beloved dog Magoo, canoeing, boating, Sunday drives with Kathleen exploring and having fun together and singing in the car. Mike was a passionate, fan of the Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bombers. He enjoyed walks in the park, camping, nature and quiet moments on the deck listening to classic rock music.

A man of deep faith, warmth, and humor, Mike loved music from the 60's and 70's, and working on his classic vehicles, his treasured old Rambler and 1969 Chevy truck. His infectious smile, kindness, and selflessness touched everyone who knew him,

Mike's life was defined by love, integrity, and gratitude. Though ALS took his strength, it never took his beautiful spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of courage, laughter, and compassion that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him. His gentle soul will continue to be a guiding light to those who loved him.

Forever remembered, forever loved.

A private celebration of Mike's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends can come together to share memories and honor a life so beautifully lived.
