Raymond James Chartier

It is with heartfelt sadness that our family announces the passing of Raymond James Chartier who after battling a lengthy illness passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, at Maples Long-Term Care Home.

Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Holly; son, Gerald; daughter-in-law, Shelley; and his cherished grandson, Liam. He was predeceased by his son, Kenneth, on June 30, 1986.

For those of you who knew him Raymond rarely spent much time in one place.  He was a true gypsy at heart, having moved across Canada numerous times with his family, always embracing the next adventure. While his work experience was varied, one of his proudest achievements came later in life. At 35, Raymond fulfilled a dream of attending university and earned his Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Calgary. Calgary held a special place in his heart, and he never forgot how much this accomplishment meant, especially with the unwavering support of his wife and sons.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the incredible staff at Maples Long-Term Care Home, whose compassion and care were a great comfort to Raymond and his loved ones in his final days. A special thank you to the wonderful team on 2 East—Holly would often come home with a funny story about her visits, and it was those moments of lightness that meant so much to the family during this time.

While his presence will be deeply missed, we are comforted in that in his passing he can finally rest.  We love you and will be looking for that special star in the sky that we know is shining brightly in your honor.

Rest easy, Raymond. Your family will carry you in their hearts forever.
