Ronald Walker Obituary

Ronald Dale Walker, 83 years, of St. Laurent Manitoba, passed away, November 21, 2025, after a long battle with kidney disease. Ron was predeceased by his parents; Ruth and Dale Walker, brother; Grant Walker, sister; Sandra Walker.

Ron was a jet flyer fighter for the Air Force in his youth until travelling from a small farm town in Forestburg Alberta to Winnipeg Manitoba, where he met the love of his life Marie Strelek. They married young at 18 years and 20 years and had two children.

Ron’s direction in life turned whereas he worked many positions over the years while building his family and on his carpentry and business skills at the same time. He built cottages, cabins, garages, etc., for Beaver lumber in Northern Manitoba and Northwest Ontario.

Eventually, Ron built his own business as a subcontractor and recreational land developer on Lake Manitoba. You will find many of his personal attributes shining from, Twin Beaches, Saint Laurent, Arborg, Gimli, Lundar, Hecla Island, etc. Ron’s most personal and favourite development was Sandpiper Estates where he lived until he died. He wanted it that way. Sandpiper Estates had a huge grip on his heart.

Ron is survived by his wife of 63 years (December 3, 1962), Marie Walker, daughter’s; Wendy Swail, and Dawn Vajdl (Tom Vajdl), grandchildren; Troy Swail (Bree Kruk), Brittani Swail (Joel Kliewer), Shey-Marie Vajdl (Dylan Boyechko), great grandchildren; Kane and Lexa.

Well, dad, you did it your way. May you rest in the hands of the Lord and suffer no more. You will be often remembered and sadly missed until we meet again. Love your family.

It was Ron’s wish that no formal funeral will be made. He asked to raise a glass of your favourite beverage in his name as fond memories are recalled. In lieu of cards and flowers, please donate to the less fortunate in his honor. Thank you.
