Sean Potyk Obituary

With shattered hearts, we announce the passing of Sean William Potyk at the age of 52 after a lengthy battle with heart conditions. Sean was an amazing husband to Bonnie, loving father to Sarah, Ryan (Jen), Eric and Kurtis and an adoring Grandpa to Wyatt and Holly. He also leaves behind his Mom and Stepfather, Joan and Mick Rice, siblings Jack (Michelle), Marla (John) and Brenda (Marcos), Mother in-law Linda Monkman who loved him as her own, along with many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends who all loved him dearly.

Sean valued every moment he spent with his family. It made him very happy to spend time with those he loved the most whether it was playing a board game, going fishing, playing darts with his best friend, Scott or making the people around him laugh with stories and jokes. Most of his happiness came from making the people around him smile and laugh. He encouraged everyone to find the fun in everything, even when it wasn’t. In the past 5 years of his life, his newest passion was his vintage pop bottle collection and spent hours on auction sites, going to garage sales and meeting other collectors. Every bottle that arrived to his handmade shelves brought him such happiness.

Sean had a strong passion for knowledge, whether it was an abundance of useless trivia or his dedicated knowledge as a Quality Control Inspector for 19 years at MacDon Industries. He took great pride in his job and was meticulous with details. Our family would like to thank the staff at MacDon for giving Sean so many great years and for supporting him through his health issues right up to the end.

In lieu of a traditional funeral service, Sean requested that we have an old-fashioned Irish wake that will be planned for a later date closer to the Fall. Cremation has taken place and Sean will not have a traditional burial. Instead, Sean will rest at home by his wife’s side. Bonnie and Sean were bonded together in life, and referred to each other as their “lobster”, because lobsters find one mate they have for life. Sean would want to spend his days in the afterlife being close to his “lobster” and his family.
